Ilonka Muensterer Maar

Ilonka Muensterer-Maar is a German self-taught artist painting in watercolor and acrylics.

"What many years ago began as a hobby has meanwhile developed into a full-time occupation. Being a member of the local Art Association I held numerous solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions. I am also a member of the German Watercolor Society and the Frankonian Art Association. Inspiration is one of the most important things for me as an artist. For example, I am in the fortunate position to spend some weeks in South Africa every year, and I´m really fascinated by the nature and the wildlife - for me an inexhaustible source of ideas for my paintings. I am working mainly from a combination of photographic reference, unforgettable impressions, and my own imagination. I hope that the viewer of my paintings will experience the pleasure and fascination I receive from the act of painting. To put a smile in the viewer´s face is my ultimate goal.”
