Charles Yale Knight invented the use of sleeve valves in place of the conventional tappet valves in internal combustion engine. In 1909, Stuttgart firm, Daimler- Motorgen- Geshellshaft, obtained a 10 year license to manufacture the engine. The first Mercedes-Knight debuted at a Paris show in 1910.  This is an acrylic painting of a early 20th century automobile by Philippine artist Joey Agbayani.
