Since retiring from the corporate world a few years ago, Terry Mellway has become a full-time artist working in acrylic, watercolor and oil while specializing in the Colored Pencil medium. Her style takes a very realistic approach to the world around her. “Art has been a passion for me my whole life and now I have the opportunity to focus and pursue it as a career”. Terry is a member of the Colored Pencil Society of America as well as the Assiniboine Group of Artists Cooperative, the Charleswood Art Group, the Forum Art Centre and the Manitoba Society of Artists. Her piece “Jamaican” recently won the W. Cliff Packer Award for Excellence in the human form at the Manitoba Society of Artists Annual Juried Show.
“Art has always been a part of my life. The connection I feel to everything around me, in the shapes, the colors and the details comes from deep within and my aim is to enable my viewers to see that connection through my artwork and hopefully allow them to appreciate the beauty all around us. Today colored pencils are another extension of my passion for art. When a piece turns out well for me I feel it, so each painting is part of my joy.”
