“Aggression and its consequences in the society depend on various factors. One of these factors is personal beliefs which will lead to the formation of dogmatic thoughts and views if taken to its extreme. This dogmatism will result in aggression. This occurrence of this problem has been specifically worrying during recent years. Women in my works are always the symbol of love, kindness and patience. I have always tried to display the beauty and relaxation of female gender but the process of my works has undergone transformation after the Iran-Isfahan events. The event of some years ago was throwing acid on the faces of defenseless girls and women. This sinister tragedy had a moving effect on my mind. The apparent paradox between beauty and ugliness transformed my internal affairs and made me create works with the topic of tyranny against women. This unfortunate behavior is one of the several tyrannies against the women of my land.”
“These pieces are about women, whom through history have always been attacked on the basis of conditions prevailing in society. The women in my paintings, vulnerable to such assaults, are marred by this violence. But these scars are deeper than the skin. Darkness, through this mutilation, corrupts their clarity and purity, decaying their spirit and body. Their souls are destroyed, gradually melting – they can neither see, nor be seen. Speaking, becomes punishing. Uncaring, we remained silent. Words catch in our throat, even when faced with their visages. We see our own inadequacy, and the results of our inaction. Their faces protest, their silence speaks. Suddenly, we realize we are a part of this tragedy. We feel this pain, this objection, this gross injustice. For, they want to be seen and to be heard – that is the essence to being.”
